GHDsign was established in 1980 in Denmark by Gert Hansen who still is the owner of the company. His 10 years prior background as an electronic engineer in the Royal Danish Air Force, as an airborne in flight navigation- and radar developer, maintainer and instructor brought him further to the medical industry with developing, installing and testing equipment for cardiology examination. His next challenges came with the development of space equipment for a thruster steering and surveillance system for the Arianespace. In late 70's this brought up the need for high-tech reliable PCB design with the highest level of quality. The revelation, that the accuracy of the actual board design has a great impact for the success of the product itself, was then born.

From color pencils, lots of eraser, tape up on polyester film to the first CAD system purchased in 1982 from DDE - one of their first releases of Supermax ECAD. The beginning of an exiting new era for GHDsign was started.

This did the job and soon more licenses were purchased and more engineers were employed. Additional EDA tools was later covered with Cadence Allegro, Signal Explorer, SP65 Constraint Driven Auto Router, OrCad Layout and Schematic, Mentor Graphics Expedition Pinnacle, Mentor Graphics Board Station and Pads Power PCB. GHDsign Aps in Bagsværd, 10 kilometers north of Copenhagen, employs today 10 people.

In 1997 a startup company in California became a reality with the establishment of GHDsign USA, Inc. as an independent company with a small office facility for 2 designers. With graduated expansion the need came for more designers, and the company moved to Newport Gateway in Irvine in a facility for 15 PCB designers. Later a a new company, Trend Circuits Inc., was established, and new customers came on board. To day all activities are operated from the main company in Denmark.
Because of our valued clients GHDsign has made step-by-step solid growth and offers strong partnership in PCB design service.
